How to get Rid of Fleas…

If you are wondering how to get rid of fleas from your house or premises read on.

I’m so embarrassed but I think I’ve got fleas…

Welcome to a large club. Many people get fleas but you just never hear about it. Honestly, we have lots of calls about the removal of fleas. Its nothing to do with your housekeeping. Its often due to cats . Also, you may be pleased to know that fleas like clean houses.

Is it bad to have fleas?

Its not pleasant. You will get bitten and its very uncomfortable. Fleas are biting insects that will live in your carpets and between floorboards. Treatment is fairly straight forward but you will have to prepare the rooms for us before we get there.

Flea spray web readyWhat do I have to do before a flea treatment?

Don’t worry, its not hard – we’ll tell you how to prepare for  a treatment. It’ll help reduce the cost if you follow our advice. Once Acclaim Environmental start a flea treatment, the first thing we need to do is make sure that you really do have fleas. Once that is established, treatment can then proceed.

And that’s it?

Not quite. you’ll have to keep pets and children out of treated areas and you must not vacuum for 14 days after treatment – unless you want fleas to return.

Sure they’re Fleas and not ‘Static’?

Sometimes you might feel like you’re getting bitten but we’ll tell you that there are no fleas in the building. This can often be due to a static charge building up on carpets in heavy traffic areas. Constant rubbing of the carpet with shoes can build up a charge on the carpet. Once it discharges, tiny pieces of hair, wood, glass and other materials can fly up and embed themselves in your skin. The resulting injury looks just like a flea bite. Don’t worry though; we’ll be able to tell you if static is affecting you.
