Should I be worried about carpet beetles?

Carpet Beetle removal is very important if you value your lovely natural fibre carpets. Unfortunately, carpet beetles are known to reduce beautiful carpets to tatters. It is important to first identify them for you. Depending on what they are, they may want to eat your carpets, food or textiles.

What type are they?

Order Coleoptera is the beetle family. There are over 300,000 worldwide but ‘only’ 4000 species in the UK.  Send us a photo and we’ll help you figure it out. There are actually very few that will give you a pest control problem. The main problem for the home is how to get rid of Carpet Beetles (not to be confused with Carpet Moth).

How did they get in?

A number of ways. They may just have crawled in through an open door or window. Carpet beetles can enter your property a number of ways. If you’ve had birds in the roof, this can also be a source. We can look at your property and systems to help you make them more robust.

Will carpet beetles just go away?

Again, it depends on the species. There are beetles that just wander in and will wander out again. Some will want to stay. Once we identify them we’ll know whether you can stop worrying about them. The Carpet Beetle will go away eventually- when they have eaten all the carpet!

What can be done to get rid of Carpet Beetle?

With all beetle control, identification is paramount. If its not a pest species, you may be able to use insect sprays and that’ll be it. Others may prove to be a bit more persistent .

How long will carpet beetle removal take?

Once we know what they are, we can give you a set product to get rid of beetles. It can just be one visit but sometimes takes a bit longer. Carpet Beetles are normally done in one visit.

Do I have to be out of the building during carpet beetle control treatment?

Not necessarily. We’ll give you all the guidance and health and safety stuff you need to keep your family, staff and customers safe during beetle control. You MUST keep pets out of treated areas until dry.

Will you make sure they never come back?

Carpet Beetle Removal can be challenging. To keep them out for good, you’ll need to apply what we tell you so that you can stop worrying going forward. It can be done – but only with vigilance.
